ROCHEFORT

Aligned with the territory’s development dynamic and in cooperation with its major industrial actors, the Agglomération of Rochefort Océan anticipated sector needs through extensive redevelopment of the industrial zone of the Arsenal to provide needed land; more than 9 ha in all were involved (expansion of Airbus Atlantic production buildings, construction of new buildings for sub-contractors, welcoming new arrivals…)

This redevelopment helped consolidate aeronautics activity in the territory, while fostering synergies between companies and improving the zone’s environmental performance.

In addition, in 2023, the launch of the construction of the first factory of the plane maker VoltAero, an Aerospace Valley member, began. This building marked the kickoff of the creation of the future industrial hub at the Rochefort Charente-Maritime airport. Equipped with a runway (2280 m long and 45 m wide/orientation 12/30) and 20 ha of available land, these conditions offer new assets to aeronautics industry actors and new project owners specialized in sustainable aviation and new forms of air mobility.

The area is also strongly marked by the nautical industry. Consequently, as part of the event, “Jeudis de l’aéro”, a round table was organized on the theme, “Cabin interiors in the nautical and aeronautics sector”. Experts interviewed highlighted the correlations in innovative technological advances that promote eco-design, resource savings and energy optimization, thereby contributing to the decarbonization of our industries.

PAU

In the Pau region, decarbonization of aviation continued with acceleration of MAELE (Environmentally Responsible Light Air Mobility) action, the aim of which is to foster the energy transition of aeronautics through light aviation. The period included the first static exhibition of low carbon aircraft at Pau’s Green Aero Days, featuring the presence of eight machines illustrating the path to clean aviation.

BAYONNE

At the Technocité of Bayonne, the Defence manager and the representative who has been shared by the Cluster and the University of Bordeaux for over four years, worked daily to meet the needs of our members. The agreement between the Cluster and the Communauté d’Agglomération du Pays-Basque (CAPB) illustrates the commitment to pursuing the development of Aerospace Valley’s presence in a territory important for the ASD sector. The latter has been endowed with the facilities needed to tackle the future such as Compositadour, Addimadour or Turbolab, a shared Industry/Research/Teaching testing platform dedicated to “Innovative Aeronautics Propulsion. Le Pays Basque also hosted the 2023 Forum for the second year in a row. The event was a huge success with 550 participants, over 700 BtoB meetings scheduled, and more than 55 speakers and experts who brought their knowledge to sector challenges at round tables and technical workshops.

BORDEAUX

In Bordeaux, Néo-aquitaine teams settled into the Cockpit building managed by Bordeaux TechnoWest. The cockpit building is located at the heart of the Mérignac Aéroparc right next to the Airport, Dassault Aviation, ArianeGroupe, Thales and Safran Ceramics.

MONTPELLIER

The Occitanie-Est ecosystem continued to develop with notable projects in green and low carbon aviation (SAF, electric engines), artificial intelligence, fighting forest fires and connections with the renewable energy sector, in particular floating offshore wind turbines.

Here the focus was on forest fires and civil protection. The cluster continued to work alongside the Nîmes Métropole, the Department of Civil Protection and the Occitanie region on developing HUB46, a civil protection Euro-mediterranean expertise hub focused on fighting forest fires. The hub will host training sessions, innovation and acceleration activities and events.

WITH SUPPORT FROM ITS PUBLIC FUNDERS,

Since 2022, the Cluster has carried out new collective actions to help SMEs tackle climate challenges and the environmental transition, notably with funding support from the ADEME and the Government with an overall budget of 200 k€ in grants allocated.

  • Hence, the Cluster launched SCALE action (Space Climate League) to support the development of climate services in France, in Europe and internationally of Cluster member SMEs providing climate-related operational services and using Earth Observation technologies. These SMEs must have signed a contract with a client for these services.
  • Aerospace Valley, in partnership with Bpifrance and with support from the ADEME, via Diag Décarbon’Action, Diag Eco-Flux and Diag Ecoconception, continued their collective efforts to support Cluster member SMEs and Middle-Sized Companies with their environmental transition.
