PRESENTATION
Created on December 05, 2019, the ALIENOR technical innovation cluster is one of nine defense innovation clusters created by the French defense procurement agency (DGA) in conjunction with the Defense Innovation Agency (AID) to capture and accelerate civilian innovations for the benefit of armed forces or defense programs.
ALIENOR's objective is to detect, guide and test innovations from mainly regional industrial and academic players (SMEs, ETIs, start-ups, universities), in order to bring out new solutions likely to bring performance gains and technological breakthroughs to weapon systems in the aeronautics and space sectors.
ALIENOR's missions are manifold:
- Raise awareness of innovation needs
- Detect “dual” innovations (innovations applicable to both the civilian and military worlds),
- Support the scaling-up of technological solutions,
- Evaluate technological solutions.
The activities and projects of the ALIENOR cluster are based on the work of the following three workshops:
1. Under the guidance of the armed forces (land forces, air forces and space forces) and AID, identification of innovation needs based on new operational requirements (needs of future weapons programs, technological breakthroughs, new employment contexts, changes in support);
2. Under the supervision of Aerospace Valley, detection and orientation of innovation proposals captured within the local industrial and academic fabric, with regard to their potential usefulness for defense systems;
3. Under the supervision of the DGA, support for partners as they evaluate and mature their projects.
